HONGKONG TRIP TRAINING
Last saturday the "honky-tonks" went to BuKit Timah Hill to prepare for our overseas expedition.
rather exciting. Steep rocks, large boulders with moss and algae all over were a common sight.
Clarissa and Estee vomitted.
All of us looked like nerds with our backpacks so high(:
The MONKEYS were scary.
One monkey was named sharmane. :P
James and I had to walk backwards when descending.
Olivia who was behind us became infront of us.
We went to PizzaHut to reward ourselves after that & saw many interesting TOYS(preferably one on STITCH)

gonna get hiking equipment soon!
actually, i just want a pair of good shoes to leave my mark everywhere in the streets of HongKong.

Life and injustice of being a leader;
( all the dirt inclusive )
Not grumbling here folks- but all sec3s know that life is taking its toll on us.
Take a survey and look online now at 12.34 am.
What are the most obedient students of our school doing now?
Most are rushing to finish their 7 to 8 pages of holiday hw or maybe trying to start on their EOY revision.
Yes, yes. At this point you would be wondering guiltily why you havent started on YOUR revision.
dont worry, im just like you.
30 students online & 20 are sec 3s?!
naughty naughty sec3s what have you guys been up to?
sleeping this late during the holidays..
actually, most of us are trying to fit this last bit of the hectic holidays right into our tiny little brain for rememberance right before the EOY starts.
well, hectic holidays.
They sure go together.
Let's see what projects are currently going on.
- canteen project
- fund raising ( HK trip )
- nomination of SCs
stressed out?
duh! i say yeah!
besides the hectic life of being a leader, one always has to cope with one's packed to the brim holiday work as well.
ANDDDD just to make things better! or for worse..
theres A MATH LEVEL TEST ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.
how absolutely wonderful.

anyway i've recently been very unhappy with being a leader.
don't get me wrong but theres always a period of time where the hopes and ideals you have in the past have to take a dip. WEll, for me its now.
Let's see how many indignant encounters i have this year for being a leader.
Well, mostly to be absolutely truthful.
Leaders on top. dont care about how you are feeling.
its always product and results, achievements that are most important and of priority.
So often, to rush out last minute work to the upper authorities, one often has to contact one's group last minute and this results in often panic, stress, disorder and anxiety.
Also, added work on one sole member because he is more responsible or even that he is more available at the moment causes increased burden. Some members take the opportunity to skive off and they do so with no pang of guilt.
I wonder if a person does not say this to you directly to your face that you should take responsiblity for your own internal job, should you simply neglect what you should do? or take the initiative and make life easier.
But rather, those who take the initiative often end up with piled up work from their own areas as well as those of others. This is often to rush out the work to the cold, unfeeling upper authorities.
Secondly, it is the lack of time to manage one's other areas.
As affected by the former, one often has an urgent need of time to manage one's most important area- academics.
As a results, grades slip and eventually resulting in a lose-lose situation for yourself. Where you get hollered at, being despised, while your mates do well because they simply push their job to you. Often, these mates do not have any conscience or if they do, they try to make you feel guilty so you'd help them.
WARNING: TREAT THEM HOW THEY TREAT YOU.
and that only applies if you have the courage to tell them they suck.
Thirdly, its how others treat you.
I respect rules and laws and i think they DESERVE to be respected.
In the midst of juggling your workload from your homework, to your extra event that is occuring that 2 weeks down the road and to the daily exams, one also has to juggle with rule-breakers.
Rule-breakers are not those who flaunt the rules of discipline, but rather those who influence you to disregard your own voice, your opinions and stand.
Sometimes, you also have to learn while being a leader is that you have to endure what people say till the very last.
Let me list down my encounter:
lets say you have already passed down your job to someone else and you are currently in charge of another matter. For that instance, most upper authorities still approach you for your previous job.
Even sometimes, you get scolded for the job you are no longer in charge of.
Well, it is disrespectful and rude to retort or even glance at the mistaken people angrily, which is why one must often hold his tongue, even though hes treated unfairly.
The worst of all worse encounters i've met;
is to deal with irregular members.
irregular members meaning one whos performance fluctuates.
The worst i've encountered is lately.
Those who don't turn up regularly for a fixed time, a meeting and don't give any form of notice beforehand.
hence, when the time comes and you are forced to go looking for them, you realise that they are not turning up after all. With half of the members present, time is wasted and effective work cannot be done.
Also, it is having to deal with people who are regular.
REGULARLY LATE.
Very often, the upper authorities will ask you to handle the situation for them.
in this case, there is often nothing much left to do except to advise the person to come earlier and remind him or her the importance of punctuality. Most likely though, this advice will fall on deaf ears and you are forced to warn and repeat the same load of information to the person every time.
Every time taking place for 3 out of 5 days in a week.
Sometimes, it is being scolded for something you have done, which is often nothing.
You have done your best to remind the person, yet he or she simply does not want to make the effort to come down early and hence you will be the one scolded for not handling the situation.
How unfair is it?

each night i suffer from insomia
i toss and turn in bed, suddenly remembering i have council work left undone.
i spring up immediately and start apologising to every party for informing them late.
my work is left undone.
i cant find the time to do my revision, im getting tired, worn & i lose interest more as the days pass by.
when people are down, they look to the leader for guidance..
when the leader himself has no idea how to proceed, people lose hope.
so no matter how stressed, despaired i feel i just have to keep moving ahead.
my results will suffer but to others thats a small price to pay to continue upholding & preserving student council's name, to work for their benefits.
many leaders of my batch find it increasingly hard to cope. we are doing what we can. we are trying.
redundant work that we cant decline we still have to proceed.
we are trying to maximise our time but seems like its a daunting task to achieve.
upon hearing people saying that i was so free i didnt know what to do during idle conversations, i wish for a bit more time where i could finish a bit more stuff.
Everyone is placing their hopes on the leaders,yet nothing has ever been done to rectify this situation. Shouldnt it be that everyone is given equal share of work?
Its the irresponsibles and the fear of getting scoldings that cause us to end up doing the jobs in the end.
To those people, i appeal to you to wise up. One day when all of us are gone, you will realise the importance. So stop taking the leaders for granted because you should be taking charge of your own areas as well.it's Wednesday, July 30, 2008 now
